George and Ann Martin
“If you’re old enough to remember a movie called “Lost Horizons,” starring Ronald Colman, then I’ve got something you need to hear. Ten years ago, my wife, Anne, and I decided to retire and move to Westminster Village. We had lived in Toronto, Canada; Cincinnati; New York; Atlanta and Memphis. Our move proved to be exciting — a ranch home with lots of grass, trees, flowers … very quiet. So you don’t have to climb the mountains of Tibet to get your little piece of Shangri-la. I think it’s right there in Westminster Village — and you need to check it out for yourself. Really!”
John and Mary Rixse
My name is John Rixse. My wife Mary and I first contacted Westminster Village in October of 2013. We were greeted with friendly people from there on. When we came back to Westminster Village for a second tour; again, we saw nothing but helpful friendly faces from staff and residents who welcomed us warmly and were happy to have us. When we moved to the village we had neighbors showing up while we were unloading our trucks. We were happy to find golfing and fishing close by, weekly card and domino games, billiard tables and weekly meetings for coffee. There is also an exercise class and yoga. If indoor activities is not your thing, there is an outdoor walking trail with fitness stations located in our Village Park. There is an on-site craft hut and woodworking shop. Crafters can work on crafts alone or in a scheduled group. There are monthly scheduled trips and activities. You take your pick. There are plenty of opportunities to volunteer and stay as active as you want to. We have a grounds crew that keeps the place looking nice, a maintenance team and 24/7 security that keeps things running smoothly. We love it here and have found a new family here. We hope you do too.
Why I like living at Westminster Village. I moved here in 2005 from Cleveland, Ohio. I was raised in Blytheville and moved away for 40 plus years. I saw Westminster’s site on line and fell in love. I came home to visit and we drove around the area. I knew this was where I wanted to live. Some of the things I like about living at the Village are great neighbors, yard service, maintenance team, 24/7 security, exercise classes, yoga, Wii Bowling, Wii Golf, Mexican Train Dominoes, card games, pool tables, craft hut, great library for reading and checking out books, area for vegetable gardens and great trips including fishing. There is always plenty to do. I love that there is an age limit of 55 and over. I love that I can walk and ride my bike on the Village Trail or around the neighborhood and know that I am safe. I love our weekly Thursday coffee meeting where we can get to know each other better. Westminster Village facilitates TOPS (take off pounds sensibly) at the Westminster Village community center. Westminster Village is a great place to relax and enjoy life or you can be as busy as you want to be. So come and see for yourself.
